Maureen O'Kane is an
artist based in Cardiff, South Wales (UK) who specialises in
producing original, site specific artworks for interior and exterior
locations. She specialises in mosaic, casting and relief sculpture
in a variety of materials and has developed the artform and techniques
of mosaic into two animation films, one of which won a Welsh
Bafta in 2003.
Maureen has had nearly twenty years experience of undertaking
public and community art projects for hospitals, schools, public
and private spaces both in the UK and internationally and she
provides workshops in mosaic and casting techniques for all ages
and abilities as well as training days for teachers.She has a
BA in Fine Art Sculpture, a Post Graduate Art Teaching Certificate
and an MA in Public Art and Design, Theory and Practice from
Chelsea College of Art, London. In 2001she studied traditional
Byzantine mosaic at the Studio Arte Del Mosaico in Ravenna, Italy
and in 2005 she worked on architectural mosaic pieces in the
Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. |
